Will Cadmium Always Be On The Palette?

  1. Thank you for the information,

I wonder, does normal use of cadmium based oil paints in the studio pose health risks? I never spray paint or sand down paint, but I do use turpentine and other solvents. Is the cadmium “released” somehow when dissolved in solvent? Is it then inhaled?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Simone –

Sorry for the delay in response. Cadmium will not evaporate or somehow be released into the air through simply the use of solvents. The main concern is that they should never be airbrushed or sanded, as inhaling the pigment particles need to be avoided for safe use. Beyond that, be extra careful not to ingest the products, or let children use them as they will be more apt to inadvertently ingest them. We hope this helps.
