      • Hi Michael the captcha don’t let me post a comment so I try this way;
This is fantastic, as a hyper realistic painter makes my mixing easier, these are great starting point as well highlighters. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll make some YouTube videos using them 😊

  2. Nice, do you have the munsell tone no for these? (And the rest of the range as I wrote down all that you published but note some paints aren’t rated and the shift after drying is always very very annoying – any plans to change this? Other acrylics promise no drying shift)

    • Hello Simo.
      Thank you for your questions.
The Munsell notations will be updated and listed at this section of our website: https://www.goldenpaints.com/technicaldata/pigment.php
Regarding color shift in our paints: there tends to be minimal shift in light colors, but it is still present. It will always be difficult to eliminate this occurrence in transparent colors like Quinacridone Magenta, regardless of the acrylic used. The only way that it would be possible would be to use a truly clear acrylic binder to make the paints and extend them. Currently there’s no binder that meets this need and our high standards for a stable, permanent acrylic paint. We are always evaluating materials and this would be a great advancement if we do find one.

Currently there are no plans for these being added to High Flow and Fluid Acrylic paint lines, but if enough artists believe they should be, it does factor in when color lines are expanded!

    • Hello Jess.
There are no current plans to add these colors to the Fluid Acrylic line at the moment. But we do review what colors in Heavy Body are selling and then give them a high priority when other lines are expanded. This is the case for adding Titan Green Pale, which was previously only in the OPEN line, now it’s one of the new colors for Heavy Body that helped inspire the Light Tints!

  4. Hi Michael, thanks for a great article! I really look forward to using these colours. I see that they’re made from exterior mural grade pigment, but I noticed that on the Golden website they’re not listed as suitable for exterior use. What’s the reason for this please? Cheers, Victor

    • Hello Victor.
Thank you for the kind words and questions.
You are correct that we selected only lightfast I pigments for the new colors. They should be just fine for exterior use but we have not updated the online chart or the color list in the Exterior Mural Product Application Sheet. I will ask for this information to be added when possible. Until then there’s no reason these Light Tints should not be used for murals or other outdoor applications.

  6. Are there plans to include these colors in the Fluid Acrylics line?
Can the heavy body acrylic be mixed with a medium of some sort to mimic a fluid acrylic?
Can’t wait to try the Light Phthalo Blue!

    • Hi Mary!
Thank you for the questions! These colors have received very positive reactions from artists thus far, and although I cannot provide a timeframe, we have considered adding some (or all) of them into our other paint lines as well. I can’t provide a time frame or even state unequivocally “yes!” if this is going to happen, but we do very much appreciate when artists let us know what they would like to see next!

Regarding thinning Heavy Body Acrylics, you can approach a more fluid consistency with the addition of water and acrylic medium. Some of us like to premix a 1:1.5 blend of acrylic medium (such as GAC 100, GAC 500, Fluid Matte Medium, etc.) with water. This mix can be slowly added into the paints until the desired consistency is achieved. Premixing takes the guesswork out of wondering if you are adding “too much” water. Adding just water does work, but it begins to feel more like a thick color wash instead of a paint as you continue to add more and more water. You can also make your own Light Value Colors if you want them sooner than later in Fluid Acrylics, as they are straightforward blends that are mostly Fluid Titanium White. Of course, this defeats the purpose of having premixed colors ready to use, but it still is an option. You can mix our colors together and keep them in a sealed container until they are used.

      Keep those requests coming!
